Music Packaging

Ideas for music

First I chose to do Frank ocean's album channel orange because it was one of my most listened too albums. I also like the feelings it projected and I wanted to show it to others.

One of our first exercises was to create a vinyl label in which we had to fit a lot of information. The space is very limited.

This was the second simple layout I did after the first one had few mistakes. I kept it real simple because I wanted it to be less distracting to read the information. The colours were simply orange, black and white.

This is taking a step further by taking the same information but in a much bigger scale. This is my third attempt. Similar to my vinyl label, I wanted to have same look. Simple fonts are used on both of the layouts.

Inspirations for the music packaging

These are some inspirations where I had an idea of creating something that can be seen through and somehow the image on top and below is altered.

The while feel you get from is very surreal. I feel really nostalgic from these types of windows. There are only some windows that trigger my interest. Those are mainly because of the mixtures of colours. Some colours really connect to me. They give out certain emotions to me.

For the cover art I wanted to to show something appealing to the eye. Something that is unusual and beautiful. The concept of seeing through the window really hung on to me. I decided to use that concept of seeing something through. So I chose to take a detailed photograph of a petal of a flower. I chose the pink coloured rose. It had a very deep rich coloured nerves running through it. I really liked the depth of the colour. I simply raised it up to the sun and took a photo of it. This way I could get it really shiny and sparkly with so many details. Everything was so crystal clear. I could see it in its most expressed form. I had to take numerous photos to get the most out of it.

This is the image I used for the cover art.
I re did the vinyl label and added the image that match the whole concept.

For the packaging I simply printed over a tracing paper giving it that blurry and nostalgic feel and at the same time being able to see through. The colours were altered by the image below. I used two tracing paper cover for the main vinyl cover. This concept of seeing something but is changed by something under.

These are all what are included in the music packaging.  Something really simple but very pleasing look at in my opinion. I just wanted to show people the raw emotions connecting between these images and the music. Hopefully I have managed to do this album the justice.
